Hi, I’m Ross Jackson-Hicks, a passionate advocate for male mental health, a firm believer in early intervention, and someone deeply committed to supporting teenage boys before life takes them too far off course.
My journey into mental health advocacy is personal, powerful, and purposeful. Over the years, I’ve made it my mission to reach young men at a crucial age, equipping them with the tools, support, and mindset they need to grow into the men they truly deserve to become. I believe every young man has potential, sometimes, all they need is someone to believe in them and show them the way.
I’m proud to be the founding director of Man Down, a men’s mental health support group offering safe, non-judgemental, and confidential spaces where men can talk openly about their struggles. Our mission is clear and urgent: to reduce male suicide by encouraging honest conversation, mutual support, and real connection.
In recognition of my work, I’ve been honoured to receive the Prime Minister’s Points of Light Award, and I’ve had the privilege of meeting Prince William to discuss mental health strategies across the UK.
Outside of my advocacy work, I’m also a football coach for my son’s under-15s team where I see firsthand how mentorship, structure, and encouragement can positively impact a young man’s life. I’m especially passionate about helping teenage boys who are facing challenges at home, in school, or within themselves, and who are in need of a positive male role model to guide them in the right direction.
This site is a place where I’ll be sharing my work, insights, resources, and opportunities to get involved whether you’re a young person, a parent, a school, or a fellow advocate.
Thanks for stopping by. Let’s make change happen, together.
